Why I Shut Down Signature Style

So yesterday I launched Signature Style for The 21st Century Visionary, and I shut it down early hours of today – not up to 24hours. In this post I share with you what led to that decision – hopefully you could apply it to other areas of your life.

You see when I got the inspiration about the workshop; the whole concept was downloaded to me through the inspiration of The Holy Spirit. I was super excited – that kinda light bulb moment – WoW!

Signature Style for the 21st Century Visionary

I started making plans immediately; booked venue, set up eventbrite page, and as soon as it was launched – calls were coming in, people super excited that it was what they need. What more can you ask for? Especially reflecting on my recent successes, the Women in Leadership Conference and the launch of my new book Leverage. I felt this is it!

But throughout the day yesterday, I noticed I wasn’t on top at all, though calls were coming in enquiring about the workshop, but I wasn’t feeling it at all – honestly I ignored the feeling and went out to get more fresh lowers for my newly decorated studio. In the words of Byron Katie “

After attending a praise and dance I was invited to last night, I got home tired and hit the bed.

But something happened this morning.

I was still half awake in my sleep and I heard a voice asking me, why did you publish the event?

What else can explain the way we feel and how we interpret things we just can’t seem to understand? What can explain that raw, gut feeling we get when we know something is wrong? Many have even downgraded it to more of a “sixth sense.” However you label it, it’s something very powerful. It’s a powerful force within us, and while many times it’s an unwelcomed visitor, it should always be received and respected. It is the Spirit of Abba in us.

Perhaps you may be wondering why do you need to listen to the voice?

Because it’s the answer you wish you could get from the wind and the warning you wish someone could give you. It’s that spiritual connection you can’t get any- where else, and it’s the deepest connection you have with your innermost self. As the world is becoming more chaotic, it’s time to acknowledge that a woman’s intuition isn’t just myth; it’s one of the few honest things in our lives and we must learn how to listen to it, harness it and act when it’s speaking. We need to follow its cues and to live our life accordingly.

The voice came again, why did you publish the event?

I ignored this and still trying to enjoy my sleep – then I heard “shut it down!” now my eyes wide opened – I heard again “SHUT IT DOWN!” I felt sad and peaceful – I have been on this journey long enough to know when these two feelings come together.

I humbly asked WHY?

My science background wouldn’t let me keep quiet (especially that I received lots of interest about the workshop), I pondered on this; and yet the Holy Spirit gave me the analogy of a pregnant woman and a farmer. A woman doesn’t give birth the day the she conceived – the seed has to complete the full cycle, so also the farmer.

I couldn’t argue with this as I remembered the project immediately, it seems uninteresting; I had procrastinated about it for a while but didn’t finish. I was hiding under the excuse of being careful, but I realized I was being fearful. I realized I chose signature Style immediately the concept came – because it’s functioning in my strength and it wont stretch me – but the other project will.

So I’ve shut down Signature Style workshop, and picked up the project I had abandoned – now I’m ready to be stretched.

What about you, when have you had to change your plans as a result of your inner voice?

Thank you sharing and looking forward to reading from you.

I think this is so brave…and another level of obedience and self awareness…especially as you had already published this event.

I’m starting to listen to my intuition again and not apologising for it or trying to explain it.

Thanks for sharing Aji.. .God bless…

Yes Diana, self awareness is key and we need not apologise for it. Thanks for stopping by.

    Aji, thank you for this.

Until He says go- any other thing is mere human intuition. It’s good to get to a point where one can LISTEN and OBEY.

Thanks for taking the time to share this, Aji… helps to know one is not alone and it’s okay to say no and go with the plan and timetable God has for you. I’ve learnt by experience[and in hard ways! :)] not to share or immediately start implementing any vision or idea the LORD gives to me until He says “go” – like you said, some of these ideas are mostly seeds, and it becomes a reality in God’s perfect time and season – after a season of preparation and in a way that will not overwhelm you. This scripture has helped a lot: “Your ears will hear a word behind you, “This is the way, walk in it,” -Isaiah 30:21[AMP] – Always asking for the grace to know, listen to His voice and to obey. Blessings!

Very well put together Temi, and you are right – it becomes a reality in God’s perfect time and season. Awesome!

It takes a certain level of spiritual maturity to not just hear but to listen and obey. Often pride rob us of the Grace of obedience and greater calling. Yes I have had to obey despite perceived risk of embarrassment but the reward of obedience is beyond my human dreams.

Remain courageous in faith Aji. The sky I found is not even your limit

Tell me about it Kofo, the risk of embarrassment indeed, but once we have the understanding that we are just a vessel, obedience becomes easy.

This is what I call Obedience at its core. Well done Aji and I wish you all the very best in the project you have picked up again and set to accomplish. I bind every spirit of procastination over it. Go and win.
