We had met before my recent visit to Paris, although our encounter was brief, he flirted like charming French men do. I’d smiled shyly – flattered–but went on about my day. This time around in Paris, I could barely sleep all night, he was just as dapper and handsome as the first time I laid eyes on him. I thought of him often and waking up the next morning was his invitation by my bedside table staring at me.

Life On Your Own Terms

After several ‘what if’ conversations with myself, I thought perhaps this was more than a mere coincidence, he’s in Paris and I’m in Paris. I decided I wasn’t going to leave the City of Love without at least introducing myself to him. With freshly applied lipstick (chili pepper from Mac) and a tint of rose blush, I was ready to meet Louis Vuitton.

My Champagne pilgrimage to Paris wouldn’t be completed without a stop in Louis Vuitton’s flagship store on the famous Champs Elysees.

I was ushered in by one of the tastefully dressed employees named Pete, and asked if he could help. He introduced himself as one of the store’s personal shopper and dressed the rich, famous, and royal. I gracefully introduced myself also ‘the savvy way’ and he offered me a tour of this beautiful architect.

As I was breathing in the luxury, while I asked questions about the brand and the store; I watched as other customers craned their necks trying to figure out if I was somebody important (of course I am).
I smiled – if they only knew.

As I walked out of the door after nearly hour-long tour of Louis Vuitton, I couldn’t help thinking about my history lesson with Pete, the one that hit me most was that:

Monsieur Louis Vuitton never saw the famous LV logo. The House’s namesake died in 1892 and 44 years later his son, George, created it after his death.
